Default How hard is it to.......

put a scope base on the barrel of a mossberg 500 rifled barrel? Of course it would an extended eye relief scope that I'd put on it.Reckon how much it would cost to get it done? Thanks, Scott Woody

Why wouldn't you just have the receiver drilled/tapped? I would think that would be the easiest way to do it.

The receiver is already drilled and tapped on a 500. Why not just use the holes already there?

What you are talking about is called a cantilever scope mount - mounts the scope directly to the barrel in the event that the barrel does not fit real tight in the receiver. The mount is usually silver soldered onto the shotgunbarrel; usually requiring it tobe re-blued. Total damage will be close to $100. This type of mountis also commonlyputon a Ruger 10-22.
