Suzuki Age?

Does anyone know how to interpret the serial number on a SUzuki outboard to determine age? I have DT40 with SN 612229. I don't have a Suzuki dealer anywhere around here and their website instructs me to see my local dealer....not very helpful. Thanks!

2 things to try
1 if the website lists dealers or do a web search for a dealer and call and ask.
2 E-mail Suzuki and say ,I have no local dealer ,you tell me

I tend to be blunt ,but honey works better lots of times
