Record Walleye!

I am told that the World record walleye caught through the ice was landed the other day at Tobin Lake Sask. The hawg weighed in at 18.3 pounds. Was supposidly caught by a priest from Carrot River Sask. I know i fish that lake alot in the summer and never landed anything that big, but really how can you compete with a priest. I am considering going into the priesthood and heading back to that lake.

If I remember right the record largest walleye is 22+ pounds from Greers Ferry Lake, Arkansas.
It maybe a new state record.
Or it maybe a "Fish story".
Hope to a news paper aritical on it .

You are right johnch the world record was caught in Greers Ferry, Arkansas and it weighed 22lbs and 11oz

Yes i am aware the world record in open water was caught in arkansas 22 pounds 11 ounces. This is the new ICE FISHING world record. The story is 100% true i am sitting here looking at it on the front page of a newspaper however i am having trouble finding the story on the net.

No need I found it .
It is a provincial record for walleye by .24 pounds with a 18.30-pound catch

The correct article is found in The Star Phoenix Friday, January 14, 2005. I trust the star a little more for accuracy than the Nipawin journal lol.

I have found a link to a larger open water walleye. IGFA lists a 25.0 lbs. walleye as the record. Caught on 02 Aug., 1960 at Old Hickory Lake, TN by Marbry Harper.

Holy Crap!!!! How long would a 25 lb walleye be. That's huge!!! I caught tons of walleyes as a kid. We grew up on a river that had a major spawn every spring. It was nothing to go fishing for a couple hours and catch 20 or 30. My best day was 4 hours-54 walleyes. Rarely did we catch one over 25 inches.

Anyway you slice it the ice fishing walleye and the one from Greer's Ferry are hogs! Man that would be fun.
