Default opinions- what is your bass set up

thinking about getting some new equipment for this spring. what would be a good BASS set up for casting. I have been using just regular old medium action rods and open bail shimano reels forever. Does anyone go a little heavier like using a medium/heavy 7' rod with a spinning reel (top mount)?

Can't go wrong with a medium-fast 6'6'' All Star Rod. They have a lifetime warranty and are very nice to fish with. As far as a reel, I have a Shimano Currado. I have had it for 4 years now and can't complain at all. I have other reels, but that is the one I would advise on getting. All the Shimano bait cast reels that are in the Currado line or above are quality reels and can't go wrong there. Just my $.02.
