So, last night I'm fishin with a little zebco, hook and sinker, nothing else because I was with my gf at her parents house and had to catch grasshoppers for bait. Gettin hits every cast from whitefish, and I was just about ready to call it a night when I grabbed another grasshopper and cast it out. As soon as it hit the water a fish was on, my pole was bent right over. I thought I had a big brown or a smallie on. When I got the fish closer to shore I realized it was neither of those so my next thought was a sucker but the mouth was in front, not on the bottom. I brought the 'enormous' fish back to show my gf, and her mom said to keep the fish there to show my gf's dad. I had no idea what it was, he had no idea what it was, so when I got home from work today I looked up what it was, and then looked up the record to see how nice of a fish it was based on that. Needless to say, I think I released a potential NY state record for fallfish. I'm a little mad that it could have been, but then again he is back in the water and hopefully growing bigger so I can catch him again some day. Sorry no pic, but it wouldnt matter if it was a record anyways cause he is still out there but where I can't say hehehe
