Default Heading To Erie!

I have been looking forward to this trip for 360 days. Thats right, the minute I stepped off the boat last year. Four days of fishing, golfing, adult beverages, Put-In-Bay.........Adult beverages, poker. Hopefully I will have a good report when I get back next Wednesday.

Was out on Lake Erie this morning had 1 to 3 inch waves I have never seen the lake so flat, What a beautiful day it was. Too bad the fish didn't cooperate. Only got 1 21 inch Walleye and a 13 1/2 inch Perch. The Walleye fishing has not been too good yet this year. But Perch fishing has been good.

Me and my girlfriend are heading up to Cedar Point next month and i plan on taking one day to hit Lake Erie for smallmouth, i cant wait. I have a friend that goes up ever year and fishes Erie on the New York side and catches some very nice smallies. The hotel we are staying out has discounts on charters for smallmouth and walleyes, so i will definetly try that out. Never been there before and hopefully i will be back with a nice smallie to hang on the wall. Ofcourse after the long day of fishing i cant wait to check out the legend that is Put-n-Bay and all those bars. I was told by another friend that i had to try some lake erie walleye that it was some of the best fish i would every eat. I really cant wait to get on the water.

Their saying that the major school of walleye is still in erie , penn. Been hearing on the radio that their slowly moving towards dunkirk. Fished all this week, 6 walleyes in 7 days, safe to say it's about 1 to 2 fish per 8 hours on the lake. The fish we caught were stuffed with shiners. I think we were more lucky than good. The fish are still seperated, might catch a loner or two. We caught them off of lake erie state park in 80-120 feet of water about 45-47 feet down. At least that's were the thermalcline was. 68 degrees at 45 feet down.

Fishing sucks right now for most in Erie...on the Ohio side. Too many mayflies still.

Some are getting into them, but not many.

Went out a week ago, and fished 7 hours. Caught 2 walleyes. One was 21", the other (caught by my bro-in-law) was 11 1/2 pounds, 31 3/4". Freakin hog. He put it back, god bless him. At least he had me there to witness it, because neither of us had a camera. LOL
