Default Iowa Fishing???

I am moving to Iowa City for the summer and I was wonder if there was any good fishing in the area? I fish for bass and panfish mainly but I hardly ever keep bass. What good lakes are in the area or within an hour or two?

I appreciate any information.

I live in northern Iowa so I cant help you a whole lot but if panfish is what you're after, any of the pits around should have plenty. Good luck wherever you go!

Coralville dam is supposed to have some pretty good action. I have never fished it, but there are all species there, and I know that the crappies can be really good. I live in Dubuque, so I usually stick to the river for my bass fishing. If you want some more info on that let me know, and I can help you out.

I am pretty sure it is straight north of town. You get on highway one and go north for a while (5-10 miles) You will see a sign that says coralville dam and you will take a left. That is all I know about it.

As far as catfish the river that runs through town, the cedar, has some good catfishing. Find the log piles and eddys and you should find them.
