Default cooking fish

I got a big mess of bass I've been saving to cook for superbowl game. After I thaw them out and cut them up I was gonna let them soak in salt water in the fridge to help take some of the fishy taste out of them. Any idea how long I should let them soak.

Fresh fish shouldn't taste fishy.

You might want to put a pinch of salt in the water. Or use milk. Overnight is aslong as you should need.

I've never seen a reason to soak fish in anything. I was a chef for14 years so I kinda know what I'm talking about.

You know what's good for bass!! I'm far from a chef, but my step dad taught me this. Simple but good. You get some salt pork and dice it in little pieces. Through it in a frying pan and cook it. Take the salt pork out and save it. Then fry the bass in the salt pork grease. mmmmmmmmmmm good. And you can mucnh on the fried salt pork which happens to go very good with beer.

My favorite thing to do with bass is to release them and let them live.

Don't soak it. Salt, pepper, meal, deep fry!

I agree with Charlie P. Fresh Fish should NEVER smell or tast "fishy". I would soak it in Milk or even white wine. I usually go with the white wine, I think it adds a little bit of flavor to the fish. Overnight soak would be more than plenty. If it's thaw, I usually only soak for about an hour or two.
