I love striper fishing. Mostly at Smith Mtn Lake in VA or Buggs Island.

We use whole large minnows and cut bait on a carolina rig.
When they spawn you can catch 150 to 200 per day. Alas, we can only keep 3 per person during the spawning period![:'(]

BB I thought we were about the only ones to use that fluke alot,I've never seen anybody else use them where we fish and we don't tell what we use either, but most people down there use cut bait, thats just to boring to us but they do catch big fish that way

We fish for them up here in Danville every year when they run from Kerr Lake ( Buggs Island) .Usually use Gizzards ( Shad Guts), live shad ,Yozuris,or Bucktails. As soon as the Stripers get done then comes the blues and flatheads.Thats when the work starts.

I fish for them a lot but not in fresh water. I catch them mostly in the Chesapeake and some of the rivers that lead into the Chesapeake. We do well on white Mr. Twisters around structure. Eels, bloodworms and cut alewifes are also deadly.

BB,

I did some fishing there when i was visiting. It was just private owned pond (huge one) and caught alot of bass and bluegill.

As for stripers, the very first fish i caught was one of those. There is the aqueduat that has plently of good sized stripes and catfish. Its been awhile since i went fishing there but i think i will sometime soon [:-]
