The Common Yellowthroat is a FL resident..Lives here all year.He hangs around the water's edges. He could easily fit into the palm of your hand.Obviously I copied this one off the net.

Fishing was a little unusual..nearly all my hits were not your normal tap and go..most beginner fishermen would have missed them. It was like my line was hung up on a small pebble..The line went no where..I'd reel in the slack and then lift up easily to entice the fish to make a move..most still did not move..by faith I knew there was a fish there..reeled to the water and went for broke..Sure enough..they were all fish..I lost quite a few dinks ..they are hard to catch..I should have had the 3 pounder..I set here good..I thought..My hooks diffently need sharpened..

I was using a 7 ' Lightning MH Fenwick trigger Stick and a Medium 7' Ugly Stick
Both equipped with 10 pound Trilene on Revo Baitcasters..

Sorry the fishing wasnt great but atleast you were able to get out on a beautiful day. I caught nothing but dinks yesterday as well. I managed to pull in 6 small males and what appeared to be a small female with a tiny belly of eggs. I dont believe the females have made it up shallow yet but maybe on the next moon cycle they will. All were caught on a Chrome/Blue rattle trap burned across grass flats in about 5-6 feet of water. They didnt want a slow retrieve or a yo-yo'ing motion, just a strait retrieve burned back.

Beautiful bird Chuck! Sometimes it's so relaxing to watch the birds and wildlife go about their business around you as though you arent even there. The chance to watch the wildlife alone is worth the fishing trip in many cases.

I talked to the shop and the boat should be ready in the next few days so hopefully I'll get to see where the bass and Crappie are at on Lake Conroe right now. Most are being caught in 20-25 FOW, but supposedly the crappie are already bunching up in several of the boat slips on various docks so they must be getting ready to spawn as well. I hope to find out later this week .

On eof our best 10 pound lakes in Lake Kissimmee...I found a spot on the lake that should be no problem with a jon boat..It's the 3rd largest lake in FL. The ramp is 50 miles from my house.God willing, i plan to fish it once before each full moon. There have been 100s of 10s taken out of this lake.It's a natural lake and a shallow lake with tons of structure. I studied it on Google Earth and have a plan around a mile stretch of what appear to be rocks..Matt will be going with me..

I did do a study on catching 10 pounders and I will summarize my findings..

Of course these are all opinions..but opinions from pros...

A. Males guard the nest about 2 weeks.

B. Females will only be on the nest from 1-3 days..SO YOU NEED TO BE OUT THERE SO YOU DON'T MISS OUT { -;

C.Jig and pig is the number #1 bait for a 10 pound plus { Artificial that is}

D.May want to go heavy on the braid to keep from getting a broken heart. {-;

E. They tend to spawn around the full moon.

IF you miss the spawn..your best cahnces for a 10 is deep structure and in the dark..There is a reason that they are so big..

Summary..During the FL spawn months..Jan.- Mar...I need to be on the water at least 3 days a week..or I may miss them...If you see small fry swimming over a bed..you missed Big Bertha.

Here's where I will be docking at..look at the testimonies on this home page..Grape Hammock is simply a fishing camp on Lake Kissimmee..There are about 5 different camps..This one suits me best.actually ..I plan to go this Sat..to look around..with rod in hand of course sitting in my boat.{ -;
I've already got my favorite jig on 40 pound braid..{ -;
