Default Good News/Bad news

I got word that Saddle Creek was hotter5 than ever. This was the place I thought was destroyed because of over spray. I went out this morning and the only cover available for the fish are cat tails. WOW!! What a morning ! I boated 10 chunky fish. They seemed to be spawning but I think that is impossible. The fish were very plump. My best two were a 4 pounder and a 5.12 pounder. I took many pictures..I needed the 5.12 to help me with the tourney as it was this year's 2nd best. Bad news....when I got home the memory card was not in the camera.

Also, I was the only boat out there. Most guys prefer to cast. My game plan was to flip and pitch. This has been working very good for me. I was using a 7 1/2 inch black worm. We won't tlak about the 10 that came unbottoned. LOL The moon phase is not good..but something better than the a good moon ; is a low front bringing rain. I was drenched but has one of the best mornings ever.

I have a little bit bigger jon boat now.I bouight a G3 12 footer..I like it alot. I put in a carpet floor and and I'm amazed at how much 2 more foot in a boat makes. When the rain stops I'll post a picture.

Hey Partner..
Caught 9 more today..sorry you can't schedule an extra day in FL..If you could..I have an extra room and we would fish ALL day. I even have an extra boat ..and 13 quality rods and reels. i have a back strap of venison left as well and Saddle Creek is on and you would get alot of action.

We could also use my my son's boat if you wanted to fish a bigger lake..
The Lord taught me how to catch 4 times more fish today...serouis as a heart attack...I fished my best spot..and got 3 hits and 1 fish..after I made the adjustment { I refished the same exact spot} and got over 15 hits...I ended up boating 8 more ..serious as a heart attack..from then on...it was fun and easy..

jeez, reading that makes me wish I had an extra day.

On the adjustment, sometimes all it takes is a little adjustment to turn the fish on and once they do, it gets real exciting real fast. Congrats again on a great day fishing. I just got back from Table Rock in Missouri and Beaver Lake in Arkansas. I didnt get a lot of time to fish, but did quite a bit of cliff jumping and tubing. I have gone without fishing for almost 2 weeks now and I am getting the itch pretty bad. Im sure that I will be spending a few lunches this week hitting up some of my favorite spots on the lake and will report how that goes. If it doesnt go well, count on my bugging you for your new found secret, hehe.

I don't mind sharing the secret...I've been fishing against a member of the Bass masters...and kicking his butt { -; He reminded that many members { Although in lunkerville FL use only 10 pound test...for more hits...That morning I got my secret i was using 20 pound braid..I went back and tied on a fluke on 10 pound trilene..a nice 3 pounder snapped the line like it was thread...I put it away..then the enlightenment came...I realized when I flip I generally have my thumb on the spool { causing an automatic brake} .so I tried the 10 pound trilene again this time setting the drag with plenty of give...and leaving my thumb OFF the spool..{ WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!I couldn't fish my favorite black culpret worm because the ribbon tail kinks the mono line quickly..so I took a knife and cut the curly tail off..looked like a 5 1/2 inch french fry...THEN I was getting tons of hits with no memory...and I was letting the drag do all the work..All the hook sets were pass throughs and no break offs..

Now..instead of destroying all of my 7 1/2 inch Culprets..I invested in some Zoom black trick worms..I'll fish them texas rig and i'll let you know what happens..After about 9.00 i plan to fish deep carolina..same thing ..10 pound test..Lesson learned..fish do see the line and will advoid touching the lure unless they are starved to death.

I'm putting in floating floors in my home..I'll hit the lake again Wed..Full mooon is fri..Should be hot.

Nice boat Chuck! I am glad you are enjoying it as well and getting some good fishing in. Congrats on your catches and I hope that ten pounder comes your way my friend. Myself I have been working alot of hours again this year. I am hoping it will change but that does not look good until around the end of summer. I have done a little fishing though and caught a couple of lakers that I stuffed and cooked on the grill for the wife and some company we had over. Everyone liked it quite well.
Anyways good luck on the fishing and hopefully I will be picking up a couple of lunkers as well. August up here is a great month for lunkers..

The first "senko" fish I ever caught was actually a ZOOM Ol Monster that the tail ripped off on. As I was casting it, the tail wrapped around a limb and when I made my cast, the tail stayed and the body of the worm went. As I was reeling it in, a bass hit it, I couldn't believe it. Although I dont like fishing senko style baits, I save my ol monsters that the tails rip off of and store them away for later use as a senko style bait. They also work really well as drop shot baits, a lot like a thicker finnesse worm.

As far as the line is concerned, have you noticed any difference in whether green or clear line makes a difference when line diameter remains constant?

Thanks Phil,
and I hope you catch a monster as well...

Gangly , the biggest secret or adjustment I made was line size line I was using.10 pound trilene .It is skinnny and much harder to see than 20 pound Power Pro..I like the looks of the green mono ..nearly invisable..so I now have that on most of my tackle..The bigtgest thing for me to learn is keep my thumb off the spool inless fighting a monster and trusting the drag. This is hard for me when flipping..it's been a bad habit..

ALSO..when I was using florocarbon a while back ,I learned about a new knot..and it's worked 100% for me.It's the San Diago knot.I found it on the web..pretty simple to tie..

The problem with mono for me { Can be the memory} ..I had to make a rubber worm adjustment. Trick worms have a straight tail ..so I'll try them out tomorrow. Curly tail worms twist the line really fast..

A friend of my son told me that a certain lake is on...I may hit that one Fri..it's a carry on lake so I'll have to finesse my 10 foot jon down a bank..His friend caught 7 ...they ranged from 4 to 7 pounds..This is the lake where Matt and I got the 5s and 6 pounders..I believe my 10 pound trilene should activate more strikes..I'm still nervous of fighting a hawg on light line but one must trust their equipment..The reel is a Garcia Revo..decent drag and the rod is a Legend triggerstick by Fenwick..I love that rod. I got it years ago from a yards sale for about 5.00...It's my best 'Feel' rod...total confidence with this baby[ -;

Also..on my Rooster Tail rod I tied a micro barrel swivel a foot ahead of the spinner..to keep the memory to a minimum..so far the only lure working for me has been an all black worm..and in the lily pads...bullfrog horny Toad...and a jig in the thick stuff..Green Pumpkin

TIP....when the Horny Toad gets worn out..you can use them one more time..glue the torn frog together with a drop of Super Glue..the frog last longer than out of the package..I invented that myself.{ -; the Super Glue makes a hard spot in the head to keep the hook from sliding around as well..

Tight lines,
Chuck7

Why don't you like fishing senko style baits? Just out of curiousity...

I spoke somewhat out of context. It's not the senko style bait that I dislike, it's wacky rigged presentations that I don't care for where I fish. I have several packages of GY's, Ocho, and other cigar style baits that I use on occasion but I generally will texas rig them weightless so that they don't "gunk up" so fast. I do not wacky rig them in the areas I fish because wacky rigged plastics need to be cleaned of snot grass EVERY cast. If they don't get hit on the initial drop, they won't get hit because they are covered in junk the first time you lift it off the bottom. Because of this, wacky rigging has secured the lowest rung of the latter in terms of presentations that I utilize. In my above post, I associated wacky rigging with the term "senko" and didn't clarify. This in turn resulted in confusion and it is entirely my fault, I apologize.

Again, I don't have issues with cigar-style or stick-bait plastics, but I vehemently abhor using wacky rigging setups on the waters I fish. I made the error of saying that "I dislike senko style baits" when I should have said "I dislike the presentation most associated with senko style baits....wacky rigging". This presentation is almost usless here. If I were somewhere else where the bottom composition wasn't what it is here, I would have no issue breaking out a wacky rigged setup and going to town.
