Default Good News

After being very busy this spring this will begin to slow down next week. I have a very large Bass Tournament this Sunday and have been preparing for that constantly during my free time.

Yesterday evening I took a break and took a drive to an old farm that has the most beautiful creek you can imagine that runs the length of the property. I know the farmer and he has let me, and only me, fish it twice before. One time I had just got my driver's license and the other was two years ago. I know this place holds some quality fish. The creek, at largest point, is about 4 foot wide.

Lucky for me, he had just bought a 600 pound gun safe and needed help unloading it from his truck. I gladly helped him, and an hour and half later the gun safe was sitting in his spare room.

With the unstable weather patterns and unimaginable amount of rain I don't know when I will get out and fish this little gem, but I am certainly hoping to sneak away for a few hours tomorrow morning and spend some time listening to the babbling brook.

Fished this morning for a few hours. Landed many fish, alot of small fish in the system, but it is looking very good and healthy. This is a very important stream as it is one of very few that has natural reproduction of brook trout in South West Michigan.

Average Brook on a Rainbow Panther Martin

Largest fish of the morning, slightly above average. Lost another one of similar size here on a crawler.

What did you catch that last one on? Live bait? I just see the hook. I would love to catch a brookie, but for where I am located I would have to drive several hours to some stream in TN. Nice catches. I have done nothing exciting. Just the usual bluegill on fly.............Going bass fishing Monday (fly only)

Those are some beautiful brookies bh14. I used to fish those little streams in the cedar swamps in northern Michigan as a kid. Brings back a lot of good memories.

Caught a few on night crawlers, majority on Panther Martins.

Congrats to you on the nice brookies!

I have yet to get out after some myself.. I have been busy turkey hunting and manage to bag my limit for this springs hunt. I got my second one this morning so I might try for the brookies this afternoon. Our weather has been messed up as well and we are suposed to get some thunder showers sometime today.. But, with turkey season over for me it is now time for fishing when I can..
