Wish mother nature and the fish would both make up thier minds.
Tuesday - Everyone i talked to was hammering crappies on one of the local lakes.Waited for the kids to get out of school to go, temperature decided to climb to well over 90 degrees.got to the lake, crappies sitting all over in the shallows, none of which would bite anything.Total haul, 4 people fishing caught 9 crappie in 2 hours
Wed-Rainy and cooler, storms rolled in about dark, decided to go walleye fishing.Upon checking my minnow trap all that was in it were sticklbacks and mud skippers.Put a mud skipper on one pole with a bobber thinking nothing would touch it, and cast for walleye with the other.Catfish started hammering the mud skippers and not a walleye was caught.
Thursday night-Cold, raining, windy, lightning, decided to take some nightcrawlers and mud skippers out and float around under bobbers.Weather started getting really nasty, huge bullheads around a lb apiece started eating my crawlers, then a 20 inch walleye took it.Brother in law missed another walleye about the same size on a crawler. Not a catfish to be had.Decided to leave before we got electrocuted from lightning.
Friday- Cold in my house, feels like I should be seeing my breathe, need more bait, hoping the downpour last night hasnt washed my minnow trap away. Not going to target anything specific tonight, it doesnt work, just glad im catching fish, i still hate bullheads and my hand hurts where one stung me last night.Wifes starting to look grumpy cuz I fish every night, good thing she has to work tonight or Id be on the couch. All in all its been a good week.
