Default Went to the river

Went to the river yesterday. It was high and dirty and flowing to fast to fish well from the banks. But I was having a bad day and wanted to be left alone. The rivers the only place I can fish all day and not run into anyone.Lots of my usual spots were washed out and I was getting disgusted with the effort.Decided to try one more spot on the way home I hadnt fished before.

Found a spot and started thinking, remembering back when grandpa was alive and before dad had cancer and the three of us would spend hours on the river. And how after grandpa got sick he would still come outside to see my catch every time i stopped same as dad now does.Nothing was biting but I sat there remembering.Im not a real spiritual person by any means but the day didnt seem as bad anymore.

And then my rod tip moved, and there was a fish taking line out.In a spot where Id been for 20 minutes there was suddenly a bite.I set the hook and watched in amazement as a 9 lb catfish rolled in the hole Id been about to leave. After a good fight i got him netted and the line out of his mouth, I cast back out and before i could get the fish untangled from the net another one hit and started stripping line.A fat 7 lb cat this time. Before the stringer was in the water a nice 4 lb fish took it, and within 20 minutes i had 5 nice cats all over 4 lbs onshore.

Like i said, im not real spiritual but if grandpa was there he was getting a good laugh out of all the commotion and I know he woulda been happy to see my catch again.Funny the things you think about alone on the river.

Sounds like a great day! I was planning to go last Thurs afternoon, but you all prob heard about the tornadoes that ripped through north AL. There was so much flooding, gas shortages, etc I was stuck alone w no power. Still have no power and prob wont til Weds. Thank God I'm alive and have no major damage, but I do miss electricity after 5 days without it!
