Default cheap fish finder

I saw a cheap fish/depth finder at Wal*Mart for about $65.00 (I forget the brand name). Its meant to be a portable unit that you dont mount, you just drop the sensor in the water I guess. Does anyone here own one or at least seen one operate? It would be perfect for my small Jon boat trips, but Im a litlle leary because it is so cheap.
