Default Boated 7 this morning

I got to the lake at about 5:50 AM...I only use a little 28 thrust Minn Kota...I buzz to the far side of Saddle Creek East 1/2 mile at most..so I can work my way back to the truck...

I mostly hit the spots where I've caught lots of bass and have seen big ones on the depth finder..

Spot 1 ...a large flat of weeds ..depth is ranging from 2 foot to 13 foot..
cast a Horny Toad , Spinner Bait, 10 inch worm ..no luck..OK I don't like striking out so I tie on a black 7 1.2 inch Culpret..tap tap
fish #1 11 inch dink

stop at a spot on the way to spot #2 ...catch a 2nd dink on a spinnerbait. Make a long cast..line is swinning away..I'm ready to set the hook..worm is dropped..oh well.Black Culpret is what the doctor ordered this morning..I only have about 4 worms..I hope they hold out LOL

Spot #2 Struck Out using 10 inch Wacky Worm and Texas Black Culpret...place where i caught the 6 1/4 this year..I fished it kind of fast..} -; tons of structure..weedy depth 2 feet to 20 foot

Spot #3 about 100 yds of weedy flats ..2 foot to 15 foot ..
Black Culpret...tap tap strong pull ..boated my 3rd fish 1 1/2 pounder.

Tap tap fourth bass is caughton a Black Cuplret..nice 2 pounder

Spot #4 2-10 foot weedy flats...Black Culpret...another 2 1/4 is boated

Spot #5 Struck out weedy flats 2 -12 foot

Spot #6 a large flat area 2 foot - 20 foot.in front of where my truck is..
Black Culpret...nice 21/2 pounder number 6 and another 21/2 pounder to make it number 7..

For as hot and slow as it was ..not a bad day at all..All bass caught in water 8 foot or less.
Water Temperature 84 degrees..fising picked up when the wind picked up... 3 days before full moon..If a tournament was going on..I think I would have done good.It was very slow. Total best 5 fish weight about 10 3/4 pounds
You can see from the mess..I was trying lots of stuff..the spinnerbait box, I see a Horny Toad..some 10 inch Gambler Christmas trees and a handfull of Black Culprets..and yes..White Rooster was on stand by in case any bass broke the surface..{ -;..and the green head lamp..it was dark when I took off across the water this morning.NOte the plastic box on the bottom right..Using a knife I cut slots in the box to hold 6 Rooster Tails...my serious finesse lure..Black Culpret is my serious finesse worm..if they don't bite that worm..might as well pack up and go home.{ -; The bass's tail is laying across the hook and worm sinker box..Shoot..I even see a bag of Arkansas Flukes beside the one Horny Toad. The red stuff on the blue carpet is not blood ..it's red wood paint/stain..Do you all see the blue channel lock needle nosed pliers? [ -;

Thats great Chuck, glad to hear you caught a few this morning. Sometimes, the fish want one thing, and one thing only. Seems like the black culprit was it this morning, haha, better stock up on some more of those before you run out

I can't believe a 10 pound bag would do good in tournaments down in those parts, I realize you said the fishing was tough. All the good "big-fish" lakes that we fish tournaments generally hold up 18 pound bags. Even on tough days a couple boats put some pretty big bags in.

Glad you got out this morning, we finally got rain today, first rain in a long time. Hopefully it triggers a good bite with slightly cooler water temps.

Dang..I had a big reply but took so long the computer deleted it..I hate that...

SO now I'll summarize..

Gangly...I have many other colors I know will work..I hate wasting money...Other hot colors..Junebug, Red SHad, Fire and Ice..anything darlk and scented that's about 7 inches long..

Buckhunter..depends on the time of the year and lake,,I've seen wins go from 13 pounds to over 40 for 5 fish..having a 10 foot jon boat..I'm very limited...

Understandable, I gotta get me a nice bass boat one of these days. Just had a Bass Cat promotion catalog sent to me... Makes me dream...

I would love to fish down South somewhere for Bass (though not on my top to-dos). Most people up here all think of the South (Florida, Texas, Cali) as lunker city as far as Largemouth Bass is concerned.

Florida is diffently lunker city BUT you need a decent boat..Here are a few local lakes close to me but look slike an ocean at the boat ramp..These are filled with monsters..

Lake Toho near Orlando 40 miles away..

Lake Kissemme Lake Wales ...25 miles away.

Lake Ockachobee ...100 miles away

Stick Marsh 100 miles away..

Lake Walk in the Water 40 miles away...

Lake Iscopoka 40 miles away..

CLOSEST MONSTER GUARANTEED LAKE ...LAKE TOHO in Orlando...one of the last stringers of 5 fish..45 pounds..yeah..They are huge there.

These all have big waves even on a calm day..then ya got the speedin gboats zipping by..] -;
no thanks LOL

People come from all over to fish these specific lakes...I've never even seen them..Buckhunter..if ya ever come to Florida ..Lake Toho is the lake you want to fish..

Quote about Lake Toho .."The lake received national attention during 2001 when the all-time B.A.S.S. tournament record for total weight was eclipsed by professional angler Dean Rojas with a total catch of 108 pounds. During the four day competition, two 40-pound-plus limits, 21 bass over 10 pounds, and 251 five-fish limits were brought to the scales. While these professional tournament results are truly impressive, trophy bass are consistently caught from the lake on an annual basis by amateur anglers."

I guess your right C7, that quote says it all.

Unbelievable, 21 Bass were caught in four days that beat Michigan's state record.. just out of that specific lake.

Awesome!!!

I had to look up some info on Lake Toho and I'm very impressed. Seen some photos and it looks like BASS country, aka pig city!!

Thanks Phil...

Buckhunter..all the lakes and ponds produce giants..Lake Toho is HUGE thus they have more giants and the pressure hasn't hurt them..Now where I fish..there has been serious pressure..and some folks are still getting a 10 pounder once in a while BUT the smaller local bodies of water get hit very hard so..your chances of scoring big..not so good.

To score big here you got to go to Lake Toho or find a lake with no public access.

Our state record was caught in a one acre private pond /pit about 5 miles from my house.
