I know favorite is an absolute, but I can't simply say that I have one favorite this year because there are 2 or 3 that I really enjoy fishing with now.

Last year, my favorite was the Horny Toad...hands-down.

This year, I am really liking the worm, the Berkely 10" Powerworm in Junebug to be exact. I havent caught tons of fish on it, but the ones i have caught have been of great quality. I am also really liking a new lure that has quickly become a go to, and thats the KaRu Lures Vibrashock in Extreme Bluegill. Its a chatterbait that has been designed where the disc taps the sides of the football head jig resulting in more hits on the front of the chatterbait than on the tail end. It has produced LOTS of fish for me this year, some of which have been very nice.

Its interesting to note that last year my favorite was the Horny Toad, but this year I haven't used it much at all. I have had decent luck with it, but I just havent fished it much because I am fishing much deeper waters now and the lure doesnt fit the fishing style for those bodies of water.

If i had to chose one favorite though, it would probably be the 10" worm. I may go an hour or two without a bite, but there is just something about that solid TAP, TAP, TUUUUG, that makes my heart skip a beat. Plus, its almost always a good fish on the end of the line.

Like gangly, my favorite fluctuates accordingly ...no doubt the rubber worm will always be my #1 but this year extra humid hot days and extreme vegetaion made me going through all if my lures..until I finally found one that worked consistently...and I will share that when the tournament is over in Aug. [ -;

I was shocked at how fast I began to boat bass when everything else simply failed...failed were rubber worms, Horny Toad, SPinner baits , crankbaits, rattle traps, jigs, live shiners..and then the last lure,,was just what the doctor ordered,,[ -;

I will share
my secret lure in Aug.

Now you got me guessing Chuck, I wonder if I could get it in three guesses. I have a pretty strong feeling that I might know what it is, but you older gents are crafty in your secret ways and know a lot of little secrets through experience. Gonna have to start calling you the Silver Fox :-P

Carolina rigged Culprit worm. Color depending on water clarity.

SW I love Culpret too..I got a nice one on my last outing on the June Bug Culpret 10 incher.

Gangly ..some hints for ya..

Last year I posted a picture of the lure..
A friend of my son who is a better fishrmen than me introduced this lure to me.{ By way of my son} while I was catching 4 fish ..Jay was catching 15 ..on this lure...It was in my storage tackle box..all the time..On my last outing NOTHING was working..I took out this lure ...BAM!! bass...3 more cast BAM!!! Bass...and on and on she went..and this was in the middle of a hot nasty day..The lure can be fished quick so I can cover a lot of water fast..and no it's not a buzz bait, Chatterbait or Rooster tail...I have a lot of stuff in my tackle bag but not these....I have them now..It's something new to the fish and can reqch any water depth..it's a reaction lure..I also mentioned this lure last year when I ask a pro what was his favortie lure..He mentioned this lure where he had just one big bucks after boatint a 9 1/2 pound lunker..Great Lure and very cheap,

I was going to guess rooster tail, but obviously I would have been wrong. I'll have to think about this one

Caught 6 more today..Aaron and the rest..I really don't have a favorite lure..This is why many who fish tournaments have so many rods and are always switching lures..My secret lure yesterday was the fluke...Today I got my best fish on the fluke but 5 others on the white Strike King spinnerbait..Really each situation is differnt..in weedy holes though and weedy flats..flukes can really pay off...I was in a hurry today so I fished a spinnerbait..boated 6 and lost one small one..biggest just over 2 pounds.

Right after I shut off the camera I caught a nice fat bass on a fluke and another on the spinnerbait. See video below..[ -;

Obviously depends on the situation. However, my favorite lure over the years has been a H&H spinner bait. I've caught, large mouth, small mouth, crappie, brim, stripers and even rainbows with this one.

If I could have one lure from now on it would be a six inch black worm.
