Interesting read Wildbill!! It say a bit about the way it is except we use the power augers, snowsleds, and the like.. It can get really brutal out there that is for sure. This year for us up here it is unseasonably warm and that is making some undsafe conditions on the ice in places. A big derby at Sebago Lake was canceled because of the warm weather. A game warden went threw the ice on the day before. Saturday another 7 people went threw during the early part of the durby. The wardens stepped in and shut it down after those events.. So up here anyone venturing out on the ice needs to know exactly what the ice conditions are. If unsure stay close to shore..
