pond scum. if you have a section of chain link, throw it in the water and drag it across the pond. When the chain link comes out, so will the pond junk. I would leave most of it in there, but clear off a small section for a flat. Once you have a small section for a flat, give it a couple days and then fish the edges of the flat and you should do good.

algae bloom, it can be treated but it can get exspensive, i think you use copper sulfate, check with your county extension office or your farmers co-op, the extension office may offer some free help....
