Default Gar Fishing

Ok, first post so take it easy on the new guy, haha.

Just wondering who here does any gar fishing. I've read that in some places people are paying for a guided gar trip? Is anybody familiar w/ that?

Also, what do you use to catch 'em. Everything from bait, to line, rope, whatever.

thanks,

I catch them for the fun of it..they bite jerk baits really good..they love to skim the top of the water..and they like a slow presentation..about any floating lure will work..The steel like jaws are hard to penetrate though

I had heard the frayed rope things before, but was a little skeptical. Why would anybody want to pay $$$ to catch these things? They're not good eating are they?
