I went fishing on lunch today at the new spot. I have been having a little bit of trouble getting the fish in the boat so I switched out to a 5/0 hook on the horny toad and was rewarded nicely today. Had TONS of action during the 45 minutes of fishing. More bites than I can remember, and more top water blowups than I could count. It really was a pretty active day. I know there are some big berthas in here somewhere because everything in here appears to be well fed. Where I load and unload the jon boat is swarming with live frogs that dart into the water at the first glimpse of movement, maybe that is why the horny toad is doing so well. It wasnt until my last catch that my friend informed me that he had a camera on his cell phone and so we got a picture of the last fish caught. He isnt long, but he was well fed, as are all the fish that I have caught in this lake.
All the fish hooked up today were done so with a Zoom Horny Toad in the bullfrog color, a Rapala Floating Minnow, and a Stanley's Ribbit in the Bull Frog color. Today was the first day that the Ribbit actually got something, and it wasnt on the retrieval. The frog was cast next to some weeds and allowed to sink for a few seconds. When the retrieve was started, the fight was on. The skys were cloudy, the temperature was a nice 94 degrees so it wasnt too hot, and the wind was low. Just a decent afternoon to fish
