The trout are hitting, smallies are just starting to hit the shallows after the winter (caught 4 on Sun. looking for pike, any pike big or small ), finally figured out the pike on this small backwoods lake about mid afternoon( have to recheck the lake after water warms up slightly) it took a 5/6" bait fish on bottom in 15 to 20 ft. of water to get the first hit,and the blackflies are starting up big time.Don' t know if you have them down there, but these s.o.bs drive moose out of the bush. They should be gone by the time you get here.

Sounds like its going to be pretty good fishin when we get there. Were mostly going for the walleye and pike, but any fish will do for us. Na we dont have black flies down here, but ive been in that area before when they hit hard. Ill never go without a head net again. How is the walleye fishin this time of year?

For some reason I thought you said June 26, you will be in the thick of things as the flies go so bring your head net and cans of Muskol. Have not been out for eyes this year, to busy turk hunting and speck fishing with one exploratory trip for pike.

My Dad and I fish Lost Lake Wilderness Lodge near Gowganda, Ontario. About 1 1/2 hrs. drive North of Lady Evelyn. We' ve been going up there for 7 years. Use to go in June, now we go for 2 weeks in the fall because of the black flies. Sept. 20th thru Oct. 4th. this year. We do real well with minnow and crawler harness, backtrolled slow and jigs with minnows or leaches for walleye. Pike like Williams Wabbler spoons in gold or brass. My Dad has caught 2 pike, one 42" and one 44" on that spoon. If ya haven' t fished Lady Evelyn before, at least give it a try. Ya never know. Also go to walleyecentral.com for info. They have a Canada message board that primarily focuses on Ontario. I have seen Lady Evelyn mentioned several times. Great site for getting info about a lodge and catching walleye. Good luck and let us know how ya make out.
