Pay close attention as I explain how I've been doing this for years..


A. Grab rod with right hand...hold the line with index finger..

B. With left hand flip the bail..

C, Make long accurate cast..

D. before the lure touches the water's surface I transfer the rod to my left hand and my right hand is still in the correct position on the reel..

I never felt comfortable reelng a reel with my left hand.

I do the same thing with a baitcaster, I just cant get comfortable with baitcaster the other way, but I can fish a spinning reel like you

Backin the70s..the handles did not switch over..[&o]so I had to fish this way..this is a trout stream in Maryland..
