Default I tried my luck on brook trout

I decided it's time to start fishing and tried my luck on brookies this evening. i had to walk quite a ways but caught my limit. I caught 5 pretty decent ones in a small stream they were from 9 and 1/4 inches to 11 inches. Just right for the frying pan.. I have been out 3 times before with out alot of luck but decided to try a brook out that I used to fish years ago. It proved worth my time and now I am trying to figure out how to get my canoe in there. I will try to post a pic of them tomorrow after i get back from another trip into there..

LOL you would think so if you had to fight with those mosquitoes..LOL

Here is a pic of the trout, I was hoping to get back in there this morning but the rain here is something else right now. If it lets up enough I may try it again though.. I didn't have my camera with me yesterday so I only have pics of the trout I had caught. Here they are.. notice how dark the trout are, all native and hard to get to..

Default RE: I tried my luck on brook trout

I did go back yesterday afternoon and tried my luck again.. We had almost 3 inches of rain from the night before and the morning. So I said the heck with it and put on my rain gear after it had left up some. I went in and tried it without much luck except to loose a hook on bottom. So I worked my way up brook as carefull as I could and found a small beaver dam. I tried there without much luck. I fished for quite a while off the beaver dam and ended up loosing one that felt quite heavey on my line anyways. I never caught it. On my way back down I followed the tree line and found a deer that was eaten up by coyotes. It looked as though it was a yearling but with everything gone except for the rib cage it was hard to tell. I ended up going back out to the brook where I first started and fished a while longer. I ended up catching 5 brookies there. They were all about the same size as the evening before so I never took pics of them. I did take a couple of the brook though. The first one looking down the brook and the next one looking up the brook. The one looking up the brook where the tree line comes out by the water is where the beaver dam in located. Keep in mind the grass is full of beaver runs that can get quite deep so it made for some carefull walking threw it. The last pic is of a trout that had just gotten caught..

Here is a trout coming out of the brook..Keep in mind on the down stream side during normal water levels this stream is mostly dried up and under ground. That is the way I came into the stream. It's a good mile or so from the road I was parked on. Now i have to figure out how to get my canoe into there and work my way up brook to check it out on a place nicked named horseshoe curve because of the way it curves around. This year is the first time I have fished this brook in about 25 years so I am not sure on what to exspect up stream..
