Default pitching under docks

Does anyone have experience with pitching under docks with christmas trees under them because I am having a hard time determining the difference between a bass biting and a tree .

if your not sure set the hook. not sure what bait your pitchin or flippin but a bite can be a subtle as nothing, to bone crushing, there is no replacement for time on the water, the more you go and the more "practice" you getthe more "in tune" you'll be with the suroundings and whats going on

Fishing from a short 10 foot boat I have to think about the safety about my passinger..so I use the pull set ..NOT the quick set..With the pull set..I must feel the fish swimming away..I've made very few tree bites..maybe 2 in my entire life ..I barly hold the rod in my left hand..like holding a bow..I can detect the smallest of a pick up..When I since a bite my heart mind and soul follow the fish until I just know it's time to wrap her up .I mostly use my chest muscles..forearms and elbows.I catch most of my worm fish..With the medium rod I find they pretty much set themselves..

If a fish stops running..I'll actually bump the worm inside of his mouth a little then he will absorb the rod tip..if not..it's most likely a tree..If I'm not sure I slowly lift up..with an open hand for the would be fish won't feel me..if it is a fish my rod will go down like the balnce on a scale..follow the pull....set hook.
