Default Fishing in the rain?

How many of ya'll have had success fishing in the rain? A good buddy of mine that is a co-angler says that the best fishing he does is usually in the rain, and not just whenhe is off the back end of the boat. He swears by fishing in the rain. If its rainy and windy, you can garuntee that he will be out on the water. He believes that its a lot easier to get to the fish unnoticed in the wind and rain because of the chop and disturbances on the top of the water that make it hard for the fish to see whats out there. What is the general consensus on this. He is pretty successful, atleast compared to me, so I have to believe that there is some justification for his beliefs, what do you all think?

Where I fish on Weiss Lake in Alabama when it starts raining the water starts whitecapping and it gets really rough out the the waves will almost take any boat out of the water.

It might be because the waves have been hitting the banks so hard that it makes the water muddy. Do you think this is true Gangley?

from what i have noticed, darker jigs and spinner baits have worked well in muddier waters, atleast for me. White is always a go-to color in my book though, it will work more times than not.

I can remember a lot of time when I stayed out fishing in the middle of a torrential downpour because the fish were biting good. It does seem like they bite a little better during the rain, but maybe those were just flukes. If it starts to thunder and lightning though, I head straight for the landing.
