Just got my crappie back after a year and 3 months. it took awhile, but it turned out really nice. it was 15" and really fat.

Not a bad Crappie how much did it weigh? I live in Illinois and have done a lot of fishing. the biggest Crappie I ever caught was a 18" 3 pounds 8 ounces. I caught it at homer lake. a small lake in a little park around here. I found that the big ones seem to bite when the sun has almost gone down about 40 minutes before dark. I have caught a lot of 12 to 14 " Crappie there too. I use a pink head jig and wax worm. What did you catch yours on. If you want to catch some really big Crappie go to Kentuky My grandfather use to catch stringers of Crappie as big as the 18" one I caught. They throw back the ones we consider big around here. IM not sure how much it weighed but i was using a pink jig head tipped with a wax worm. WOW, 18" crappie, that makes mine seem small. Im not sure if they get that big up here, the biggest ive heard of around here were 16" im going to have to go Illinois and catch me a 18" crappie and get that one mounted too! Typically i catch crappie from 12-14" but this 15" crappie was really fat so i got him mounted.
