I broke 30lb power pro yesterday on a medium bass. Its my fault, I didn't re-tie all day long. Heavy line is no excuse for not keeping knots in good shape. I even saw the spinner bait blade wrapped around the line a few times. Coulda shoulda woulda, lesson learned.

Well, I never said it was indestructable, [8D]. Its a bummer that you lost her though Chuck, just remeber that drag. Go back after her with that jig and make her pay.

I have been catching shad left and right the last two days here, probably one of my favorite fish to catch by far. If you ever get the chance to try shad fishing, take the oppoutunity.
Pics to come soon.

Brett,
Yes sir,
I've caught lots of shad when I was stationed at the White House..Although they are a boney fish they taste delicious..We wrapped them in aluminum foil and slow cooked them .Ialso put a teaspoon of vinegar in the cavity to help disolve the bones..

Shad roe is my all time favorite seafood.

Drag is set.I love Power Pro.

Phil,
I honestly forgot how hard those BIG ones pull on the initial pull..it's like being hookedto my son's motorcycle pulling away fast in 1 st gear..

I had more bad experiences but to embarrassed to say..Last year I treated my 20 pound Power Pro like 10 pound mono and didn't lose any..

As far as live bait..the tourny rules allow it this year..and I do plan on getting me a 10 this year..[8D]either with live or artificial..
GOd bless to all and Happy Easter,
Chuck7

PS ..I don't answernegative replies

I have no idea how a heavy 24 inch fish can generate so much take off power..[:-]..but they do..most of us don't get a real big fish on there alot so when it happens it's always a surprize..

I talked to a pro this week and he agreed to my technique when shiner fishing..use a fast action rod ...plenty of drag...let the fish keep the rod bent..I can not break 20 pound power pro so it's hard to beleive a fish can..but they do..and I had just retied..it was my drag..it was too tight ..it's not now..[8D]
