well here again, I always fish the bottom for cats. Using chicken liver.

Sometimes i catch them in deep water, other times not far off the shore. If u have more than 1 pole and its legal to use more than 1 at once try difrent casting distances and baits and see how it works. i have no experience catfishing from a boat so if thats what ur doing i cant realy help ya there.
