Thanks, Chuck....That turned out GREAT...

This picture was sent to me from a buddy of mine who lives in Juneau, Alaska... It shows a humpback whale surfacing with a mouthful of herring, engaged in " bubble feeding"...I'm going up visit him in August and fish a few days on his boat...

I fished with Joe a couple of years ago for salmon and halibut and had a great time... Every day when we were on the water, we had up close and personal encounters with humpback whales like this one...Some were less than 50 yards from Joe's 19 foot boat...AWESOME ceatures..

Adult humpback whales average 40 to 50 feet in length, and weigh about 40 tons... Yup, you read that right...80,000 pounds..

There is a lot of info on the computer about humpbacks..Check out thier "bubble feeding" technique...Amazing..There are some good film clips of it on youtube..

Nice pic.. We see a few of them every once in a while out of the coast of here as well. I never had saw them like in your pic though, mostly when we see them they are swiming by waving a flipper and splashing it on the water. If we are lucky we will see a north atlantic right whale while out. They are protected from a lot of things as there is only roughly around 300 of them in survival right now. They summer off the coast up here in the bay of fundy..

Your welcome Dan..I'm a happy camper..just got done fixing my outboard..The dealer had stuck vasaline in the breather hose which clogged up my carb..My dad walked me through the fixing process from Maryland by telephone.

She runs real good now..
