Default RE: Rigging For Crappies?

Johnny , I just shared my best method below on "Crappie Secret"

Yesterday Matt and I were bass fishing at a place where I caught 40 crappie last weeks..Two boats were fishing the same spot I had without a bite..for 3 hours..[:-]They were fishing with bobbers..As I said in my other post.you get MUCH better results when not using a bobber..I only use bobbers on the edge or in structure..but I fish ALOT in deep water 6-10 feet.WITHOUT a bobber..only a timy split shot about 8 inches above the minnnow..Hook the minnow gently through both lips to keep alive longer ..

I have beetlespins.
I just wanted to see what every one's set up looks like.

Or at least describe what it looks like.

I used to use a minnow, but no more. I catch more fish without using a bobber. I've found that I catch more fish on plastic bait than I do on crappie minnows. Pick up a pack of Southern Pro Crappie Stingers(I like the pink ones, but I have some green and black ones that work well too), and put them on a tiny jighead. Make sure that you eliminate all excess weight(No sinkers, no snap swivel, just tie the jig to the line). Make sure that you use light line(around 4 pound test)because it won't cast well with heavier line. Then, you just cast it out as far as you can, which may not be that far, but then you let it sink and slowly jig it back in. Make sure that you don't jig too fast, because thenyour baitwill come to the top. Many of the crappies that I fish bite very light, so if you feel tension on the line, set the hook. Make sure that you don't jerk too hard or horse them in too quickly, because crappies have very soft mouths which tear easily. If you can find crappies, they are a lot of fun to catch. Good luck.
