Default Tampa Bass/panfish spots

Just moved to Tampa from the West coast. I'm trying to gather any information I can on the Bass/Panfish scene. I've read its one of the best in the world. I am an avid flyfisherman but also fish the normal way. I don't have a boat as of yet, although I plan to buy one soon. Anyone care to share some information on hot spots, techniques, etc? Much appreciated

I'm in the classroom now..but yes I can help you alot..You have a decent spot right off of I -4 ..30 miles from tampa..in Lakeland FLorida..I live in Lakeland..NOW..if i lived in Tampa I would not bother much with freshwater..I'd be exploring the piers..for saltwater fish,,but if you want panfish and bass.I can hook ya up.

Well...whereever you plan to fish..you need to go NOW. Our specks/ crappieare spawing NOW and I predict the bass will start just before the next full moon unless we get a nasty cold front.

We have BIG bass in every lake. Also, Florida is the 3rd best state in the nation for birding. If you are interested in nature in general you will love FLorida..some of our species of birds, plants etc . are only found in Florida.
