I should be able to get out on the ice this weekend,

Hard to believe that what is yall treasure up there is trash down here. We hate catching Jacks (pike) down here, release everyone of them. Many kill them because they eat up the local bream pop. Looks like a good catch though congrats.

Oneshot...What we call Jacks in Florida are not Pike..they are Chain Pickeral..and both fish taste awesome..Pike are much bigger than Chain Pickeral..I've gotten Jacks/ Chain Pickeral in VA up to 30 inches..they taste very sweet..
Our temps are too warm for pike ..we get the pickeral..

They are vfery boney but if you put vinegar in the cavity ,,wrap in foil in bake long in a low temp..250 degrees..the bones disolve like sardine bones..I've never eatten Pike but I think they steak them out..and the 3rd fish of that family is the musky...he is a big bruiser..

I stand correctd Chuck, it is Chain Pickerel I am thinking about, even though we do get pike here in NC. Locals still call them Jacks either way

. My river is too warm for them in the majority of the year and they dont tend to come down here to often.

Nice fish. Going out again tomorrow for yellow and white perch. Hope to have my first 100 pound day of the season.

After a bout with 103 temps and strep throat I finally made it out...
Probably one of the worse days on the ice, but still FUN!
