Default Help!

I' m going trout fishing on a freshly stocked stream on the Eastern shore of MD. This will be my first trout fishing trip so I need alot of help. It is stocked with mostly smallish rainbows, browns and brooks, but a few in excess of 4 pounds swim there, so what should I use for bait? I was thinking nightcrawlers, panther martins, rooster tails, and powerbait stuff. I also flyfish I was thinking wooly buggers(beaded) what else would work? I have just about every fly/lure imaginable a freshwater fisherman could use, so lay it on me! Also, what styles of fishing should I try? Oh- my rods Ill be taking an 8lb Browning Spinning, a 4lb Diawa spinning and a Cortland 6wt 9 feet(WF Floating-8' leader)
Sorry I talk so much-Thanks for anything, Ill tell you how it goes

Default RE: Help!

if its your first time trout fishing and you dont know mush about it id say you cang beat a spinning rod and a nightcrawler piece drifting by....ive seen guys kill them using a minnow....rooster tails adn panther martins also work pretty good....i love trout fishing....i got to wait until like april 13th or something like that!!!! good luck....im a live bait guy mostly..but this year im thinking of making the switch...i want a trout on a fly...ive caught bass and panfish...just never that trout....guess i have to try to catch them lol...i definently think learning where the fish are with live bait is much easier than with a fly rod...they might be there just odnt like your fly and you will never know...alot of times if they are there one usually takes live bait if presented right and the bait is one they want.....good luck

Default RE: Help!

On opening Day I would suggest Mike' s Glo Eggs (salmon) and garden worms as the water will probably cold, high and dirty. small spinners or a Blue Fox Vibrax should work. Just stay away from the Lures made in France. If your going to use flies make it a pheasant tail nymph , maybe with a bright wet fly or streamer as an attractor/strike indicator. You will need a sinking leader or very small split shot on your leader. If your not bouncing the bottom your not in the strike zone. It is a little to early for trout to be rising for dries. Good Luck and I know you' ll have fun.
