I used to live in Alaska and go back every few years and visit relatives, do outdoor activities, and fish for king and red salmon. This year there were 6 of us and we were there July 22 - August 4. King fishing was good and red fishing was average.
I'm blessed to have a guide of 28 years (my dad) to put me on some fish every time I go up. He really knows the river and rig ups that are going to catch the fish as well as the real guides on the Kenai.
The best part of these trips are watching my kids (who were all born in AK) get another taste of The Last Frontier and to catch something for the first time. This trip my oldest daughter and her boyfriend caught their first king salmon and the boyfriend also caught his first red salmon.
Below are a few pictures. Derek's king was 45 lb,Grace's was 46 lb, mine was 48 lb,Sydneywith a red salmon, Spencer with a red, and Derek and I with our fish and "Guide" Dad/Papa.
