need a few tips on fishing NC mountians :)

hey everbody.. me and the gf are going to the mountians this weekend of nc. the place we are staying at has a river behind it that stocks trout. im taking the fish fryer up there so needless to say, i have high hopes. but the thing is...i dont fly fish, i know nothing about it and im pretty sure if she tried id just get tired of getting her line fixed. shes prettty good at bass fishing, etc but we have never done the fly rod thing. what other kinds of fish are found in mountian rivers and creeks that we can just catch of a regular rod? brem mabey? small mouth? ive also never fished in water that shallow so this is all new to me.

any tips? i know we have a few guys on the board from up that way

Hi which river are ya gona be on ? i live on the tuckasegee river and yes u can use a regular spinning rod and light takle ,
live bait depending on where u fish . even the shallow waters and fast currents hold fish .look at the downriver side of large rocks
forholes that the fish will sit in .glfrom mudchicken

thanks, not sure of the name of the river but its in warrensville. how dry is it up that way? somebody told me earlier today that most of the rivers and creeks were about dry. is this true?

Can't go wrong with a In-line spinner like a Mepps or Rooster tail, they will catch all of the fish you mentioned.
