Well, I'm going in to my second semester of college, and like most kids, I'm broke. However, I do love tying flies, and I'm getting fairly good at it, so I'm wondering if anyone thinks I would have any chance of making money selling them on eBay or something similar. I can tie a mean Wolly Bugger, and I was thinking 10 for $15 plus shipping? I also make some neat poppers and such. I'm not asking anyone here to buy any, I'm just asking if you think the price is fair. Thanks,
Cory

I'd say the price is more than fair and I'd bet you could sell them for that as long as the quality was pretty good. If you were entering into business then I'd say it wasn't such a good idea, as you may find your profit margin is a little slim (once you take into account materials and such)
However, if you have some supplies laying around and want to make a little extra cabbage for college then why not give it a shot?? You may also approach your locak fly shop ( if there is one) and ask them about tying. When I lived in MT, several of the guides did this in the winter.
Put your products on here orlet us know when they arein the classifieds (with pictures) and some of us may be coerced into buying some

Ok, I'm not expecting to make a fortune, just a little spending money or something. I have all the supplies, vises, hooks, etc, so there'd be not cost (to start-up). I think I'll tie a few and throw them up on eBay or something and just see what happens. If they don't sell, no such thing as too many flies [8D]

I tie them for myself and it saves me money as well as the enjoyment of catching something off a fly you made. I think for the most part the poppers wopuld sell OK right now though. But keep in mind most flies are bought in the early spring except for salmon and stealhead flies. Those flies should start selling around September though. Good luck to you on your past time and I hope you have success at it as well.
