Default Fish Finder

My dad wants to purchase a fish finder for doing some smallie/trout fishing. However we're going into this pretty blind as far as brand names and models. He's looking to spend $200-$250. If you guys could just throw some suggestions our way it would be great.

I have a Apeleco 265 Raymarine makes them very happy with it.
