Default Fishing for Lunch This Morning (pics)

Got up earlyin hopes of catchingsome fish for lunch this morning. Started the morning off with top-water, but couldn't even get a strike (though bass were jumping everywhere?). Decided to troll for pike until the sun rose and did well. Had 2 strikes and caught one.

I then switched over in hopes of landing some nice largies. Boated well over 20 fish all on my new MR. Twister purple worm setup.

Each of these fish pushed the 16 inch mark. Good eaters, not big on keeping bass in the summer but it is lunchtime!

After filleting the bass, the stomach of the larger fish was bulging. I had to see what he had been eating. This lake is weedy and sandy, muck bottom so I assumed baitfish. I was wrong! (Picture edited due to gore).

That will definetly make a good lunch. Wish I could have gotten out to fish this morning instead of sitting here in my boring office!

I went out this morning as well..mostly because Josh said it's not good to let outboards sit up..So I clamped the Nissan to the back of the boat and fished the bigger side of Saddle Creek..I boated 2 bass and ran the motor around the lake..The bassI caught were no bigger than 14 inches.

By the way..nice fish..16inchers are fiesty catches..

Thanks Fellas, hope you all get out fishing soon. Great fun they were.

childers, Bass taste great and usually aren't too fishy. Summer is the worst time fo eat them, and being the heat of the summe I usually wouldn't keep them. They get a little fishy and mushy in the warm weather, but these fish come out of an exteremly clean lake. They were delicious.
