I went today after church...the old timers here have one way of catching hawgs in super hot summer conditions..ON ARTIFICIAL If your lucky enough to get a breeze....drift through deep water with 2 rods...each with a rubber worm on it..You may get 1 or 2 hits in 4 hours..[]..but they are generally quality fish..I did that today..Sure enoughI got 2 great hits...and both caught me off guard..[:@]you go 2 hours with out a hit than WHAM!!! rod tip in the water and I pull up 1 inch piece of rubber worm..The last hit I said ,"Darn ..I'm hung up in hyrilla.".as I pulled sharplyto get unhung..something pulled twice as hard in the other dirrection...ok live and learnI did put one small one in the boat ..It was very hot today..

Answer...RUBBER WORM ..and red shad

use a worm hook and tube bait and jig it across the water about 2 inches from the top.

i have found that the rapala dt series seem to work excellent. I have had great success with pearl gray shiner and blue gill.

All mentioned above will work, some may work better than others at different times though. I also like to use crankbaits, rubber frogs and mice, as well as poppers with a fly rod in hand. Most anything will work if fished right even the good ol trusty daredevil.. Good Luck to you.

Top baits around lilly pads is my idea of great bass fishing. Seems like the little bright green mouse is always the goto bait.

My favorites are a 6" Pumpkin-Seed "Texas Rigged" worm
and
a Silver / Blue "Floating" Shad Rap.

Top water is a Medium sized Jitter-Bug (Black top white belley)

You might even catch some small mouth with these!
