This is for Smallmouth! I will be floating the potomac riverwithin a week or two, I want your opinion! I hardly have no problems ripping the smallies up with a Tube gitzet(green, brown) or black jig w/yellow head!!
I am going to have to replenish the tackle box before season really kicks up so I figure I will try out some of your alls favorites when I go shopping! Let e know what you do best with for smallies, if I have not tryed it before I wil give thema try and let you all know how they faired for me!
1. Float and Fly combo - 1/4oz bucktail jig, I like the jigs by Lindy or Northland.
2. Original Rapala - I like the smaller sizes in black/silver or blue/white
*Also, when I find clear, shallow water - preferably with some small rapids or visable rocks - I like to throw small prop baits. Throw them up stream towards the rocks/rapids and let them slip downstream. Once they slow down, start the slow popping retrieve, just enough to get the prop to spin - This was a favorite of mine during family trips to some of the northern streams and rivers in WI.
