Default Live Bait Favorites

As I stated in the confidence lure post, we'd talk about live baits someplace else. So here it is. What are your top 2 live bait presentations. Please include type of critter and method of fishing.

For me

#1 Free lining a golden shiner on/near structure for bass, walleye, catfish, and pike

#2 Free Lining again, but with a leech, same fishies

I would say crappie minnows on a slip bobber rig. If you get it in the right spot, you will catch everything. Almost got a musky using them.

15'' Musky Sucker. They catch the big ones. Be careful if you use them on a lake inhabited by eagles though. Had an eagle take it right out of the water, and our fishing pole with it. It dropped it though, and we got our pole back

Crappie minnows and beemoths through the ice. Other than that there is no livebait allowed in my boat! I do occasionally fish for catfish with cutbait but I'd much rather catch a big bass on a artificial than catch anything on a livebait!

Without a doubt - Fresh Water Smelt.

It definiely proves the theory that big fish eat little fish.

Hellgramite hooked on a jighead and fished like a twister grub....

Nightcrawler hooked once near the head...

Close third...3-4" shiner lip hooked and fished with as little weight as necessary to keep it near bottom...

I like using night crawlers as well...

I like to fish live bait ( minnows and frogs ) with a bobber or slowly trolling them.

I like using cut bait from a minnow most when trolling though

Crawfish wieghted and fished near the bottom

Big wiggly night crawler on a 1/0 or smaller hook fishing on bottom. Good for everythng from Smallmouth Bass to catfish.

Fathead minnow with just enough weight to keep it down, under a small bobber.

Preferably i fish with two poles, eached rigged with one of the above.
