Default best fishing line for bluegill, catfish, bass, and carp?

I just got some new line 12 lb. suffix elite and im not very satisfied with it. I have an open reel and the line keeps falling off the handle thing and if i dont fix it and i reel it in it gets all tangled. Is this the lines problem or what? please help and give any suggestions to better line.
thanks

Stren origional is all i use...in hi vis Yellow......for GIll and Crappie you might want a clear blue color.....i like the Yellow cause im alway flipping and pitching its the only colorone thats easy to watch....i used to use Trilene XT solar green....but they quit making that in lower # test so i switched to the stren years back and like it better anyway.

i also kindof like "Cajun line" its pretty limp and is a red color.

if your looking for a multipurpose line id go with a monofillament in 10lb test
Cajun line is good and has a fair price try it out....same as stren

i never liked the braided line too much...actually i hate it[:@]!!!!! the only thing i like about it is it has no Memory...i also dont like Florocarbon line...[:'(]

stick with Stren origional and you wont be dissapointed...its cheap and its better than Trilene...people have been using it for years because it just works...

dont buy the Generic(cheaper than cheap)lines they suck.....

I personally love the suffix elite line and i use it on all my reels except of course my crappie reel and i have never had any problems with it and it just might be that your spool is over filled

I had the same problem with a new reel that I just bought. I think my problem was that I didnt keep the line tight as I put it on the reel. After scrapping all the line i used first, I replaced it while keeping it tighter. Now it works fine.

so you would reccommend putting on new line and putting it on tighter?

I had to put new line on because it was too tangled to get off of the spool. (I had to cut it off) If you can get it untangled and off of the spool you can reuse it.

i might take all the line off all the way to the know on the spool and then rell it in tighter and see if that works

When line shoots off of a spinning reel like that it can mean 2 things.
1) you have over filled the spool
2) there is a lot of line twist
My guess is you have a lot of line twist. My remedy involves a boat and just opening your bail and motoring away while letting your line run out. (No lure needed on the end of the line) once you have all the line out just keep good tension while you are reeling back up and you should eliminate most if not all of the line twist.
