Default First fish on the fly rod of 08

Well guys i broke out the fly rod for the first time in 2008 and did ok, my buddy did alot better though. We managed to haul out about 10 fish in a few hours no picture worthy fish for me but my buddy managed to get a few picture worthy fish. Might i add i love the brown, the defining line on the belly from where it is brown then white, fish was in excellent condition. Sure did feel good to wade out and cast that first fly of the year though.

Those be Bow River trout(alberta) i was using a copper john and sjw, got all the hits on the sjw, so did my buddy, sjw is by far one of best flies to use on that river.

Troutslayer....I remember you now from last year....Your low # of posts threw me a curve...

I was also surprised to see the brown trout...Didn't know y'all had them up there...

Those rainbows you guys catch sure are PURTY...With all of those spots they remind of the leopard rainbows I've caught in Alaska...

Pardon my ignorance, but what's an sjw...??... I'm assuming it's a weighted nymph of some kind...

Yeah i was under another alias a while ago. We have really good brown fishing up here actually, well not bad, some really nice big ones in the bow get them upto 26". Yeah some areas they are really spotted some are more colorful then spotted all depends on where you fish and body of water out here.

SJW is a san juan worm, also known as a blood worm or wire worm. We were using a size 2 this time of year and trust me they hurt to the back of the head

Thanks, TS... I have seen the sjw in fly shops, but never fished it...

I love the browns myself... Some of my favorite streams are obscure, unstocked tributaries that seldom get fished, and are inhabited by oversized wild and holdover brown trout... Many of them are so small and brush choked that fly fishing is difficult, if not impossible... Nightcrawlers or live minnows work well there...

We have some wonderful fishing for lake run rainbows ( steelheads) and brown trout in the tributaries of Lake Erie and Ontario... Gets a little crowded at times, but there is some quality fly fishing to be had for fish in the 5 to 15 pound range, sometimes larger...

Will you ask your dad if he can adopt me...??...

I don't take up much room...

I DO snore and fart quite a bit, but I can filet fish, butcher moose and elk and cook pretty good...

Yeah i love the variety of fishing i have. Head east and im fly fishing for monster bows with no obstruction to my fly cause im on the prairies lol, or head west to the rockys and fly fish mountain streams/lakes and pull monster bull/rainbow/brook/cutthroat/brown/golden trout of wicked trout fishing unfortunately lots are over fished and to boot our regulations are i think the worst in the world lol, its ok to keep all the big spawning fish but no little guys and oh cant keep bull trout so now they are gunna start destroying the numbers of other fish lol those are just a few of many problems.

Haha ill talk to him see what we can arrange
