Default Help me out here!!

To what extreme do you guys go to when cleaning and regreasing your spinning reels?? I generally just take the cap part off and clean and grease what I can see, but should I tear it apart any further?? I dont wanna mess up anything.......?

Ohhh and most of the reels are Mitchell's!!! A few quantum's!! Some cheap Shakespeare's as well!! Thanks guys!!!

Remember this..
"Grease gears ..oil bearings"
white lithium grease ...light oil ...gun oil is fine..

Ifix or lubricate as I feel it is needed..a little squeek ..get's a lube..Binding up on spinning reels I've taken the entire reel apart..every part..and yes be careful and remember howto put it abck together.

Baitcasters..different story .disassemble more carefully..I only take them down so far..they are more difficult for me than spinning..

Here are some schematics for older Garcias.

k guys thanks for the assistance! I tore each reel down and sprayed with reel cleaner and I actually GREASED EVERYTHING????
The stuff I had this time was in a kit called reel saver and it said to just clean and dry then grease moving parts?

Hope I didnt ruin anything, and I dont intend on tearing these darn things back apart to clean and re-do!!!

the only thing i do is wash them out real good if I hear a grinding. Most decent reels now adays come with lifetime oil/grease.

Phil, I fished about 20 tourneys and haved placed in the top 5 in all but three. Then my dad took up saltwater charter fishing, so I am on the water for atleat 230 days a year without a doubt and this has been happening for the last 4 years, so I have had a little it of time. IT is hard to believe a 16 yr old has so much experience, I know, but I love every second of being able to catch a bass in most lakes or riversof tease up a sailfishI only hope my future continues on like this
