Default Great Day on the Ice

Well, this was my first trip to some of the backwaters on the WI river, and needless to say by the pic, it was a very good baptism. I was fishin by 1 and had my limit by 3, probably threw back as many or more than i kept. It may take me as long to clean all these tasty morsels as it did to catch em.

I was usin a new Frabil Panfish Popper combo with 4# line, small red and gold jig w/ either waxies or a red finesse soft plastic.

This spot had about 8" of ice, which really surprised me, but it was only 5-10 feet deep and seemed like there wasnt much current at all. I'd say most of the lakes around here have anywhere from 6-7 could be more though, with all the snow on the ice it isnt helping, but the single digit temps at night sure are. what part of WI are u fishin?

I'm jealous, we don't have any ice formed on our lakes. Looks like a good day.

they were indeed worth cleaning, there was a half of a gallon sized ziploc bag full of fillets when i was done, and if you dont wanna keep em that's fine, more for the rest of us willing to put in the little extra time at the end of the trip to actually eat what we catch. most of those fish were about 7 or 8 inches.
