Which C5 are you planning on buying? Each one is a little different. Also depends on what you are going to be fishing with/for. If it is soley a bass rod and you plan on using things like jigs/worms/other soft plastics then I would go with a 7foot med to med/heavy rod. Personally I prefer a 6'8" (mine are specially made) medium action casting rod. This is pretty much just because the fight is more fun.

And personally I think ugly stik's are crap. But that is my own personal opinion. That being said I haven't used an ugly stick in over 6 years so they might be better

I would go with a medium action. I use All Star rods on mine. Though it really depends on the type of fishing you will be doing.

You should be fine with an ugly stick. I still use mine for stripers. I have a 7ft med hvyaction for salt water spinning and a 6ft med action for bass etc.I also have an allstar rodbut use the ugly stick more and dont know why I spentthe money for the all star. Its a nice rod butthe ugly stikfeels better to me IMHO. BUT I do like the backbone of the allstar better. But thats just me. Get what feels good to ya and you should be happy.
