Default Hey Phil

For your Texas rigging all you need is a 3/0 or 4/0 offset widegap
hook-a 3/16 or 1/4 oz bullet sinker-and a box of flat tooth picks.
Slide your bullet sinker on line first then tie on your offset widegap
hook.Insert hook about 1/4 inch into lizard or worm and come in from
bottom side.I will then bring then hook all the way thru lizard or worm
and then slightly push lizard or worm forward and lightly skin hook the
top side of plastic completely hiding the sharp point under the plastic
so it is still weedless.Use the lightest bullet sinker you can get away
with.Slide the sinker about 3 or 4 inches in front of bait and take the
tooth pick and insert it in between line and sinker so it will hold good
but still move with your hands a little so it is not jammed on so tight
it damages your line.Break off all the toothpick that is sticking out so
it is flush with sinker.Throw near every log, stickup, rocks, docks,or any
thing that holds bass on it.Always keep your rod tip at 10:00 oclock
and work your lizard slowly on bottom.Your hits will be either hard or
very suttle. If you get a hit lower your rod from 10 oclock towards the
water and reel up the slack and set that hook hard. Those smallmouths
and largemouths love a lizard especially a Zoom pumpkin and they love
the green-pumpkin also.In summer we catch probably 10 to 15 of the
largemouths a day using this setup.I am no expert just that this setup
works well here in virginia. Here is a website that shows you a lot of
plastic rigs set up.Good Luck to you and Chuck. Mike

Thanks Mike, I will check it out, as I have heard those pumkinseed lizards work well on the largemouths. I am not sure about the smallmouths but it wouldn't hurt to try them..

I just tried the lizards this morning, fishing them while drifting in my canoe and the smallmouths loved them.. But as for the largemouths they would not touch them at least not today anyways. I had my son with me and we watched some pretty big largemouths rising but no hits from them at all.
