Default My new found excitement. . .

Oooooo man. I use to love burning a crankbait. . .I think the crankbaits can now step aside and let the jig and trailerdo some talkin'.

I was able to fish a few new jigs I bought up at Bass Pro Shop. I enjoyed slowing down my presentation and working the bottom. It seems as though I can feel the structure better with a jig as opposed to a Texas rig.

I can see why it is deadly combo. Though I didn't land any huge largemouth, I was able to manage to mistakenly hook into a carp with an olive colored jig and pumpkin trailer. Boy did that give me the fight of the day. It wasn't a huge carp, around 5-6 lbs, but it fought like solid size bass.

Anyone else seem to enjoy fishing a jig? What is your favorite color scheme or trailer to use?

Fishing a jig was something completely new and really had me excited.

Also, what size rod and action do you like to use when fishing a jig?

Do you just basically drag it along the bottom? Well, like jerk it, or bounce it or whatever you call it, like a worm?

im throwing a jig or worm 90% of the time. i use a 3/8 ounce green, brown/pumpkin mixture of a finesse jig with matching trailer, and throw it on either a 7'6" flipping rod with 30 lb mono, or a 6'6" stiffing jigging rod with 17 lb mono.

No luck yet my friend, but I did catch alot of small smallmouths in the 1-2 1/2 pound range.... Our best fishing for bass doesn't really start until mid July through September, but it is still fun...I guess that's the breaks for living way up on this end..Here is a pic of some of the water that I fish.. Part of this runs right by my house. I still have 6 more days left though...
