I got this one at Walmart for 200.00.I've already instlalled it..Question...will those contacts be ok uncovered when you disconnect the finder. You know...the powercontact. and the transducer contact.
Thanks ..
I need to read the manual to see how it works.
That's what I mean Phil..when you remove the unit...rain can get right on the part where theunit plugs on to it...right on the male part of the connector..I may cover that up with a baggie.
I took a picture..it's worth a 1000 words..also ,,
Since my wooden gate has a lockon it I just plan to leave the depth finder on there and cover the unit with a Zip Lock .
I have an older Hummuingbird TCR portable and I really had no problem with it. I would take a little electrical contact cleaner once in a whlie to it when I felt it needed it. My concern about a baggy is that it may cause it to sweat in the hot sun.
It looks like you could put a plastic bag over the contacts when not in use. Just tie around the base with cord or something similar. I leave mine on the boat all the time but it is stored in my garage so theft is not an issue.
Appreciate the feedback....Mine is parked outside behind a locked wooden gate but I'm concerned about our hot FLorida weather so I planto take mine off when not in use and tie a bag around it..I also don'[t put it on till I'm docked.I'm worried my hard dirt road driving..[8D]may mess up the computer . I drive fast sometimes down those dirt roads going ot the lakes..I'm really pumped in the mornings ..especially after 2 cups of high octain coffee..Fact is. I'm going fishin tonight so let me get off here and charge that battery....
